![]() Is 50 points of damage in a single blow to a fighter who has 100 hp any more devastating than doing 15 points of damage to a wizard who has only 30? Taking someone half-way to being dead is pretty massive. ![]() Plus, unless they're really high level, few thieves or wizards will have more than 50 hp, so 50 hp will kill them anyway, without a system shock. Would the rule be more fair if it were 50% of your hit points lost in a single damage, instead of 50 hp? I can see it being unfair to fighters if we use 50 hp instead of 50%, since they are the ones up front taking the brunt of the damage.
